Thanks, all. I appreciate both the kind words about the post and the good wishes for my dad’s recovery. The continual build-up of spinal fluid in the area of the incision is worrisome, but we’re cautiously optimistic about eventual healing there.

loved this post, Dave. The soundtrack is a gift – the sounds of another home in another time for me – adding an extra layer to this whole business about time passing, or us passing through it.

Great soundtrack! I don’t know one bird song from the next, as a rule, but I could make out the rest of the sounds.

One expects aging about as much as one expects the Spanish Inquisition. Or having a tumor removed from one’s spine. Hope he’s recovering well.
