Thanks. As you may have intuited, it was made by a leaf, trapped by its stem in an icy layer underneath the powder.

It really is an amazing pattern – like an Aztec sun or shield. Nice choice for the poetry.

I like this series, Dave, very mysterious, enigmatic words and lovely images. This image may be my favourite so far.
