All morning the mist,
the sharp uncertainty
of emerging things—
Space being mostly
a field against which
the body tests
the limits of its
own geography:
and the sheer
exhaustion descending
like a veil, occluding
everything but
the sensation of weight.
The last thing I remember
before I surrendered:
I brought in
a green dish of plants
to shield them
from rain.
