I’ve thought about adding a plugin to allow commenters to edit their comments (I used to have that), but I’m afraid I’m already pushing against the upper limit of what I can have without affecting site performance. (The ability to subscribe to comment threads is done by plugin, too, and I think that’s a little more important.)

I know Six Apart sold out last year, but since they liberated the MT code base, chances are very good that independent users will continue to care for it and/or Melody and keep ahead of worms and hackers.

As a Moveable Type user, chosen by my designers for I know naught about coding, I can just say that I have had a free version the full seven years of blogging, and it is in ‘php’, a change initiated a year or two after we started. I did worry a bit when MT made some admin moves last year but so far so good. If I was doing a fairly complicated design like yours, I’d probably feel differently, and I admit I’d like a redesign of my page – whenever my designer has time to do it.
