Night Rain

This entry is part 49 of 63 in the series Morning Porch Poems: Autumn 2011

And in the driveway,
widening ripples
that form and overlap—

When it is time for me
to go, let me feel
at last the swell

of fullness I
might not have felt,
for all my striving:

for that moment let me be
the raindrop magnified
at the point of termination.

In response to an entry from the Morning Porch.
