In reply to Jarrett. Yes, so I hear. In fact, black locust is often inaccurately referred to as an acacia, since it seems so much like a member of that genus.

Robinia pseudoacacia? Then they must be tough. Acacia, the genus that rules Australia alongside Eucalyptus, is one of the toughest plants I’ve ever seen. Persistent sticks poking out of dead soil, a leaf here, one there.
