From the opening lines reminding the reader that The Bay is changing, its land sinking and swallowed by more water to your vivid imagery of the bayonet, ( so appropriate for the time frame for the major focus of the painting) captures the beauty and pain of The Bay. I feel these lines
“You have to …hold it up to the light, to see what soaks through:/how the colors of blood mute with salt / into indigo and siena but never fade” crystalize my feelings and rationale for painting “It is Rumored~Bloody Point, MD” as a translucent double sided scroll.
