My friend says Amalfi
and Persian lemons are among
the sweetest

I've been zesting 
them on everything
as if they were 

an ever-
lasting gift

On the last few, white 
patches like grafts in reverse 
on yellow rind—

What remains of skin
holds in its oracles
of nourishment

In the meantime, I
am also told to rest
