Write Love Without Saying Love

After daylong rain, 

a woodpecker starts again—

all muted typewriter keys. 


I would like to report

on the hydrangea and the persimmon—

and the number of whorls amid their green.


We hear the wind's 

arrival before seeing its plumage.

And then it moves through everything.
