Good luck with your own scything, but remember to wait as late in the season to cut hay as you can, so as not to interfere with the breeding success of grassland birds, most of which are in steep decline in the U.S. as a result of more intensive farming practices over the last few decades. We need to slow down for MANY reasons!

Horses are part of the solution, too, I think. They run on biofuel, after all. The old McCormick Reapers might be coming back into fashion soon…
