Glad to see that the bobcats are starting to make somewhat of a comeback. I remember when I was a child in the 50’s hearing them calling at night in the woods on the farm where I lived in Eden Hill, and sometimes they would get into the refuse pile at the end of the farm road. In the late afternoon my father and I would walk around the fence in the woods lot, and he would show me footprints from the bobcat that had in curosity followed us the afternoon before when we had walked around the fence. Didn’t seem to frighten him. but I would walk close and not lag behind.
Interesting. My brother Steve and I had one sighting of a bobcat when we were walking home from school in the 70s, but aside from that they were a rarity here until at least the mid-90s, I think. I have yet to have a good sighting — they’re pretty nocturnal, I guess.
