Great post, Dave. I don’t think I really want scripture read at my funeral except a psalm and maybe the Beatitudes, though if it’s according to a BCP liturgy (which I do approve of, having gone to too many random-feeling secular services) there will be scripture, and that’s that. I had a hard time picking the readings for Mom’s funeral; none of the choices we were offered by the minister felt right to me. I’m a fan of Psalm 139, like you, and good bits of Isaiah. Maybe some Jeremiah, just in case anyone thought they were going to get off easy! I’ll have to think harder about it.
